About The Drop
Your gear. Your style. Our kind of people.
The Drop is a family-owned, independent shop for snow, skate, surf and style. Our flagship store is in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and we ship from Canada to customers across North America.
We bring together technical gear, everyday apparel and accessories for the whole family—with people behind the counter who know what they’re selling and care about getting it right.
Around here, we call them Professional Stoke Dealers.
A shop built around what we love
Owners Mike and Lynsey Dalen built The Drop around the sports, culture and community they grew up in. Both have deep family roots at Nitehawk Ski Area, and Mike has spent decades working in the industry, from his first job as a ski tech to owning and operating a multitude of boardshops over the years.
In 2025, they opened The Drop in an 11,500-square-foot space, creating room for a broader selection and a fresh direction.
Today, you’ll find skis, snowboards, boots and bindings alongside skate, surf, wake and paddle gear. Our apparel selection spans men’s, women’s and youth clothing, with footwear and accessories to round out the fit. We also stock more than 3,000 pairs of sunglasses—because the details matter, too.
It’s a mix that makes sense to us. The sports have always been connected to the clothes, creativity and culture around them. We wanted a shop that makes room for all of it.
What matters to us
Know the gear. Give honest advice.
We choose products we use, wear, ride and stand behind. Our job is to listen, explain the differences and help you find what suits your needs—not steer everyone toward the same setup.
Make people feel welcome.
You don’t need to know the terminology or have years of experience to belong here. Whether you’re buying your first board, outfitting the kids or chasing something specific, you deserve our time and attention.
Be thoughtful about what we stock.
We look beyond trends to fit, quality and performance. We give Canadian brands a special place in our selection and prioritise partners making meaningful efforts to reduce their production impacts, including brands working with bluesign.
Look after people beyond the purchase.
Finding the right product is only part of the job. Helping it fit properly, getting it ready to ride and keeping it in good shape matter just as much.
Professional Stoke Dealers
Our crew includes passionate riders, skaters, apparel enthusiasts and experienced gear people. Different interests, different perspectives—and a genuine enjoyment of helping customers find something they’re excited about.
Lynsey leads our apparel buying and is the heartbeat of the team. Mike brings decades of hands-on gear and retail experience, along with the same enthusiasm that got him into the business in the first place.
That enthusiasm runs through the shop. We know a new setup can mean much more than a purchase: it can be the start of a sport, a friendship or a favourite way to spend the weekend.
Service that keeps you out there
Our workshop supports what we sell with full-service ski and snowboard tuning, boot moulding, binding setup and ski binding mounting. We also offer skate assembly, wakeboard assembly and repair, SUP repair, and summer SUP rentals.
Come to us with questions before you buy—or bring your gear back when it needs some attention.
Part of the scene, not just a place to shop
Nitehawk, Powder King and Marmot Basin are our home mountains. Grande Prairie is our community, and supporting the scene here is part of why we do this.
We host skate events in the summer and ski and snowboard events in the winter, sponsor local athletes, and partner with youth programs to help more kids discover these sports.
Our contribution to the wider industry starts with that same work: supporting brands we believe in, sharing practical knowledge and helping the next generation get involved. The more people who find their place in these sports, the stronger the scene becomes.
Why The Drop?
From exclusive product drops to dropping in at the skatepark, into a wave or onto a fresh pillow line in the backcountry—it’s the feeling we chase. Finding something that gets you fired up, then getting out there and making it yours.
The name connects what we sell with why we love it. There’s always something new arriving, but the purpose stays the same: good gear, honest advice and people who are excited to help you get out there.
