Men’s fleece provides comfortable warmth without the weight and bulk of heavier outerwear. It can be worn as an everyday jacket in cool, dry weather or used as an insulating midlayer beneath a snowboard jacket when winter conditions arrive.

What Types of Men’s Fleece Are Available?

Our men’s fleece collection includes several distinct styles:

Polar fleece for lightweight, breathable warmth

Sherpa fleece for a plush feel and substantial insulation

High-pile fleece for added texture and warmth

Snap-front pullovers for casual outdoor styling

Quarter-zip and half-zip fleece for adjustable ventilation

Full-zip fleece jackets for easy layering

Fleece vests for core warmth without restricting the arms

Use the Fleece Type, Style, Brand, Size, Colour / Pattern, Fit and Warmth filters to find the right layer.

      What Is Polar Fleece?

Polar fleece is a soft synthetic material designed to provide warmth while remaining relatively lightweight. Its breathable construction makes it useful for layering, travel and active days when a bulky jacket would be uncomfortable.

A lightweight polar-fleece pullover can be worn over a T-shirt during cool mornings or beneath a technical shell in winter. Heavier versions provide more insulation and can function as casual jackets during dry fall and spring weather.

Polar fleece also dries more quickly than many natural materials, making it a practical option for changing conditions and outdoor routines.

      What Is Sherpa Fleece?

Sherpa fleece has a deeper, more textured pile intended to resemble the look and feel of wool. It generally feels plush, warm and substantial, making it a popular choice for cold-weather jackets and casual winter layers.

A sherpa jacket works well over a T-shirt, thermal top or lightweight base layer. Sherpa-lined and high-pile styles can provide additional warmth, but they may also feel bulkier than standard polar fleece.

Choose sherpa when softness and warmth are the priorities. Choose lighter polar fleece when breathability, packability and easy layering matter more.

      Fleece Pullovers, Quarter-Zips & Full-Zip Jackets

A fleece pullover provides simple coverage and is easy to layer over casual or technical clothing. Snap-front pullovers offer a classic outdoor look, while quarter-zip and half-zip designs let you adjust ventilation as temperatures change.

A full-zip fleece jacket is easier to remove and provides greater control over warmth. Wear it open during travel or mild weather, then zip it up when the temperature drops.

Fleece vests provide another useful option. They keep the body warm while leaving the arms unrestricted, making them practical for active days, work and layering beneath a shell.

Can Men’s Fleece Be Worn for Snowboarding?

Fleece can be an excellent snowboard midlayer because it adds insulation without the stiffness of a heavy jacket. Wear it between a moisture-managing base layer and your snowboard shell when conditions require additional warmth.

The ideal fleece weight depends on the weather and your activity level. Lightweight fleece works well for active riding and milder temperatures, while high-pile or heavier fleece provides more insulation on colder days.

Most fleece is not designed to replace waterproof outerwear. For snow, wind or wet conditions, wear it beneath an appropriate technical snowboard jacket unless the individual product specifically provides weather protection.

Snow, Skate, Surf & Outdoor Fleece Brands

Our selection brings together fleece from brands connected to snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, travel and outdoor culture.

Burton, 686 and Volcom offer mountain-influenced fleece that works naturally with snowboard outerwear and technical winter layers. Roark and Katin bring travel, surf and outdoor styling to versatile pullovers and jackets, while Brixton and tentree offer approachable everyday fleece for work, weekends and casual layering.

These brands understand that fleece needs to do more than feel warm. Fit, pocket placement, collar design, closure type and layering compatibility all affect how useful it becomes in daily life.

How Should a Men’s Fleece Fit?

A fleece should provide enough room for the layers you plan to wear underneath without creating unnecessary bulk beneath a jacket.

Choose a regular fit for everyday versatility and straightforward layering. Select a relaxed fit if you prefer more room or plan to wear the fleece over thicker clothing. A closer athletic fit works well as a technical midlayer beneath snowboard outerwear.

Also consider fleece weight and pile. Lightweight polar fleece generally layers more easily, while thick sherpa and high-pile fleece may work better as outer layers in dry conditions.

Review each product page for its specific fit, materials and care instructions because fleece construction and sizing vary between brands.
