Spitfire Wheels has spent over three decades at the top of the skateboard industry. Based in San Francisco, the brand is known for its legendary "Bighead" logo and its commitment to making the most reliable wheels for every type of terrain. At The Drop, we stock Spitfire because their urethane doesn't just perform—it outlasts the competition, making it the most trusted name in skateboarding hardware.
The Formula Four Revolution
The introduction of Formula Four (F4) urethane changed the game. Engineered for high-end abrasion resistance, F4 wheels are practically flatspot-proof, allowing you to powerslide with confidence across any surface. Available in 99D (for a balance of grip and slide) and 101D (for ultimate speed and technical control), Formula Four wheels maintain their original shape and size longer than any other wheel on the market.
Finding Your Shape: Classic, Conical, and More
Spitfire offers a variety of shapes designed to complement different skating styles:
- Classic: The #1 shape in skateboarding, proven for speed and control on all terrains.
- Conical & Conical Full: A wider riding surface for unmatched stability and control on transitions and rougher streets.
- Radials: A rounded edge design that offers a responsive slide and consistent boardfeel.
- Lock-Ins: Featuring an asymmetrical shape with one straight edge to help you lock into grinds and stay on the rail.
The Spitfire Team and Heritage
The Spitfire team features some of the heaviest hitters in skateboarding history, including Ishod Wair, Andrew Reynolds, and Jamie Foy. This connection to the pros ensures that every wheel is field-tested under the most demanding conditions. When you ride Spitfire, you aren’t just getting a piece of hardware; you’re joining a legacy of raw street skating and high-performance innovation that continues to push the culture forward.
